How to buy a cheap cell phone without breaking the bank
I’m not saying you can’t spend $500 or more for a cell phone.
In fact, you probably can.
But the best deal I’ve seen so far is $35 for a new Nexus 5X (no contract, $40 unlocked).
The $35 one is good enough for an everyday use case.
That’s the kind of value you get with a smartphone, not a flagship phone.
I can’t see it happening at a higher price point.
That said, if you’re a frequent buyer, you may be better off going with the cheaper option.
If you’re buying a cell-phone for yourself or someone you know, you’ll probably want to stick with the Nexus 5 instead.
The Nexus 5 is $350 for the base model and $370 for the Nexus 6P.
The cheaper phones also come with better specs, like fast 5G LTE connectivity, an improved camera, and a lower price tag.
The $350 phones come with two years of service.
The unlocked version comes with three years of contract service.
Both of these phones have a smaller screen, but they have better internals.
The 5X has a 3.7-inch 1080p LCD display.
The 6P has a 4.7″ 1440p LCD screen.
They’re both the same size, with the 6P being slightly larger.
Both phones have 64GB of storage, and they come with 128GB of internal storage.
The 4.2-inch Nexus 6 is $100 more than the Nexus 7, but it comes with a cheaper camera, lower battery, and an 8MP camera.
I’d still recommend the unlocked version of the Nexus, but you can pick up the cheaper 6P for about $100 less.
If your budget is in the $100-$200 range, the 6p is probably the best option.
It’s also one of the cheapest phones on the market.
The best deals on the 6Ps are below.
