A man who built a fake cell phone from scratch says he’s not scared of being a fraudster
Posted March 08, 2020 06:16:38A man who spent a year creating a fake cellphone has said he is not scared to tell the truth about his creation.
In the video below, John Tait from Brisbane’s South West has used a laptop and a computer to create a fake phone from a Lego model.
Mr Tait is the founder of the Fake Cell Phone Club, which sells phone cloning services to make people’s phone calls sound more authentic.
He said he used the Lego model for the camera he uses to make phone calls.
“I thought, ‘this is the right kind of thing to do’,” Mr Tait said.
“This is the best way to make a phone call.”
It’s not a real phone, it’s a Lego phone.
“He says his cell phone is “just a phone” and uses Lego phone clips to make the phone ring and vibrate.”
In order to make that sound real, it has to have a certain resonance.
So I’m using Lego phone clip to vibrate it,” he said.
Mr Gough says he had a similar phone made for him at the age of 15 but had never tried to replicate the technology.”
The Lego cell phone, which is a replica, you have to go through all the procedures of the Lego and you have a very specific process in Lego,” he explained.”
You have to have the correct glue on the plastic, you don’t want the glue on any parts of the phone.
“There are many, many, different processes to make it come out in a very precise shape.”
Mr Taim said he was working on the phone for about a year before he was able to make his first call.
He built his cell tower out of a piece of cardboard and made a mock-up of the tower using Lego parts.
“When I first started it, I was really excited to have something that could ring,” he laughed.
“But the thing that got me excited, is the phone itself.
I just didn’t want to use a real cellphone.”
Mr Gaugh said he would never try to duplicate the phone’s capabilities.
“Not to be disrespectful, but you know, if you have an Apple iPhone or Google Nexus 5 and you take that phone apart and plug it into your PC and you use a Bluetooth chip, you can make the ring sound,” he added.
